About Cetirizine tablets and how it works

This medicine is used to treat allergic conditions such as allergic rhinitis, hay fever, and urticaria. It belongs to a group of medicines called antihistamines. These medicines block the action of a chemical in the body called histamine. This helps reduce the symptoms of allergies such as redness, itching and swelling.

This medicine is available as tablets which are taken by mouth.

Antihistamines affect allergy skin tests and you should stop taking this medicine for at least three days before you have the test.

Speak to your doctor if your symptoms do not improve or if they get worse during treatment with this medicine.
